Subject:Synchronized Chaos Magazine invites visual and written submissions
Security:Public

Everyone in this community is invited to submit work to the literary/artistic/cultural/nature and travel writing/scientific webzine Synchronized Chaos. (http://www.synchchaos.com) This includes novel excerpts - we encourage novelists to provide some description of the project along with the excerpt and a link where the whole piece may be purchased. We also do book reviews for fiction and nonfiction.

Information on the zine and how to submit, from the Facebook group http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=20763137372&ref=mf :

We have four local Bay Area spinoff writers' and artists' groups, free and open to the public to drop by and share work for professional critique and marketing advice. Please email me at cedeptula@sbcglobal.net for info, the groups are selected weeknights twice a month in San Jose, San Rafael, San Francisco, and Castro Valley.

The brainchild of some of my friends and colleagues, along with myself, the publication provides thoughtful art/cultural/literary/scientific/social commentary/essay material. Our title comes from the mathematical concept of chaos theory - the study of whether we can find order in systems which seem to be random at first glance, whether anything in nature can be proved to be truly random or whether some systems just seem that way because we don't know enough about the initial conditions. This is a social experiment and a fun way to stay coherent without limiting our contributors' creativity or having to turn away excellent work because it isn't a fit.

David found The Space Art Network a few weeks ago, and I joined, and I love it! It's a place for artists of pretty much every medium to share their visions of space exploration, extraterrestrial worlds, future, etc.

Well, Boris, the SAN founder, was approached to start a Space Art Magazine! It's completely visionary and completely in the beginning stages of pre-production, but we're on track to make it something wonderful.

And did I mention I've been named as an editorial officer? My areas of focus are: Space Fantasy short stories (a.k.a. "fantastic fiction" with "alien mythology"), articles on ancient cosmology, exoarcheology, UFO, spirituality, etc.

So please go check out both sites, join if you're so inclined, submit if you'd like, and above all else, spread the word. :D

I'm so sorry. Apparently the links got lost in the translation. :/

Hello,

I am an artist who enjoys making others happy. I would love to do a portrait for you, and would need only a photograph to work from.

My work has been used by the non-profit organization In Praise of Mountain Women as awards, and has been seen in various places online. You may check out some of my art at http://kylari.deviantart.com.

I typically work with a 16" x 20" stretched canvas, and I use oils as my medium. Size is subject to your wishes, but my medium is not.

Prices start at $150, with 50% up front and the remaining balance due upon completion. I accept PayPal only unless you are local to the Tri-Cities, TN, and would like to pay in cash.

Contact me today and give someone you love a beautiful, personal gift that will be enjoyed for generations.

e-mail me at astacia_m (at) yahoo (dot) com. Thank you for looking.

Sincerely,

Winnie

Subject:Invitation to submit to new variety webzine
Security:Public

Hi everyone, I invite all the artists in this community, and anyone else you may know, to submit artwork or writing to our new literary/artistic/cultural/nature and travel writing/scientific webzine Synchronized Chaos!

We're online at http://www.synchchaos.com - website designed by the lovely Tabitha Smith (http://www.tabithagracesmith.com) and still somewhat under construction although the graphics look great!

We at Synchronized Chaos do not impose themes or styles upon our contributors. People are free to pursue their own artistic or personal visions and we dialogue with the contributors if they choose throughout the creative process to provide professional advice and feedback. With the publication of each new issue at the end of every month, we look over the submissions and come up with that month’s theme, which we describe in an editorial introductory letter.

We welcome contributions from new and established writers and visual/musical artists, and focus on quality, craftspersonship, and building relationships with and among our readership and the contributors. We aim to publish a wide variety of work in a variety of styles - photo essays, travelogues, digital artwork, formal and free verse poetry, short fiction and nonfiction, humor, well-written, unique personal experience and memoir, and effectively argued perspectives on pertinent issues.

Examples of contributions which would be great for Synchronized Chaos include well-written travel essays describing one’s experience in a foreign country adding a human face/story to what people may or may not see in the news, poetry re-examining or re-inventing old formal styles for modern issues and sensibilities, graphic art inspired by one’s technical, business, or otherwise non-traditionally artistic background, etc. Who we are, what we are about is constantly evolving and changing depending on submissions we receive. All we ask is for contributors to put thought, time, energy, and attention to craft and style into their work.

We especially welcome those contributors who may not yet have found a home for their work in the publishing world, who prefer the process of creating to the process of selling and promoting their work. We periodically tour art galleries and attend writers’ conferences, and leave the names and websites of our contributors with gallery owners, agents, and publishers whenever we find a potentially good match for someone’s work.

Sort of a way to help the aspiring artists we constantly meet to get their names out there and spotlight some excellent work which should have an audience but the artists don't want to go through the publication process. And to give people committed to worthwhile causes a way to speak out or to use their personal experiences to educate others.

Everyone's invited to submit (and everything should be accepted, unless it's obscene or hateful). If you are interested please send a submission via email anytime. We're working towards setting up a regular editing board and designating people to handle certain kinds of submissions, but for now you may use my email, cedeptula@sbcglobal.net

We are not a paying market as of yet but hope to become one as we grow and sell advertising and/or host contests. The magazine's online contents will remain free to provide artists and writers with the greatest level of exposure possible.

So far we have received a good variety of submissions, and look forward to more! We're also chaos_zine on LJ and Chaos Theory (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=20763137372&ref=mf :) on Facebook and this would be a publishing credit for any visual artist or writer to put on his/her bio or proposal or resume.

You may either pitch or send a completed product (attachments OK but prefer writing or thumbnails or JPEG images pasted in the body of the email.) Please put "Synchronized Chaos Submission" in the subject line and please feel free to include an artist statement or bio if you would like.

Also - our magazine is as much about building community and relationships with artists as it is about publication. We'd be happy to see artists and writers post and chat with each other in chaos_zine or on the Facebook page and would be glad to comment/critique or dialogue with you about your work if you would like. We've published plenty of interviews with artists.

I'm currently part of a team that is building a social networking site specifically designed for artists and designers. It's not just a site to display your work but also a community that nurtures creative design. We already have a lot of great features developed that we think a lot of people will like but we're taking last minute ideas from real artists so we can give them the best experience possible.

So I'd like to ask the community a few questions. Only serious answers please.

1. As an artist, are there any specific features that would help you create or share your work?

2. Other than just looking at the work of others, what kind of things help help you create new work?

3. Is there anything you'd like to see in a art or design community that doesn't exist in other social networking sites?

Hope to hear from you guys soon,
Mike Huang, Co-founder Neodeca.com

I was wondering if anyone is interested in purchasing a copy of any of my drawings.

If you were to purchase a $10 copy (that covers the copy and the shipping), I'd send you something like this:
http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/25669899/

If you are interested in the completed project, like this:

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/25872207/

. . . we could work something out with the prices. If you want me to just mat it without the frame, that'd be rad, too . . .

If you have any pictures you'd like drawn, I'd love to be of service!

Thanks so much! Love, Sara
PS I've recently made some prints of this if you are interested: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/25939937/
and if you see anything you like at my site, I'd love to sell you a copy: www.contrapposto.deviantart.com/gallery

Posters of Stephen Kasner's paintings "Crucifix" and "Woman with Arm" are now available through the website: www.Circle-9.com.

Designed by Kasner with Circle 9, this open edition of 18 x 24 posters is printed on pearl, "Shine" Reichpaper. The paper, chosen for its metallic qualities, lends itself nicely to reproducing these particular images.

Circle 9 will be offering posters, limited edition prints & original works by a select group of artists, through an online gallery and store. If you have any questions about Circle 9, their services or any of the artists they are currently working with, please feel free to contact Circle 9 at info@circle-9.com.
